Slow Living

Artist statement: I created this 3D sculptural piece using newspaper, wire, modelling clay, acrylic paint, hessian and cardboard after a workshop with local artist Leesa Padget. After researching concepts, I decided to make a snail with a house on its back. The idea was to portray the concept of living in ‘the slow lane’. Today we are so busy that we forget to focus on people and nature and to find pleasure in simple things. I wanted to bring the focus back to what is really important in life.
