Artist statement: My artwork, ‘The Dreamer’, explores the ways in which dreams can be a subconscious representation of our values, goals, beliefs and personal world. I included abstract depictions of aspects of my own dreams that are significant to who I am as a person. The main subject responds to whomever is viewing the piece, asking them to take on the perspective of the dreamer and consider the ways in which their own dreams are representative of them. I often find myself unpacking the meaning of my dreams and attempting to connect the themes to my real life, in order to gain a deeper understanding of who I am.
