This artwork is a dramatic and colourful portrait-landscape in oils, depicting my mother in Milford Sound, New Zealand. The style is inspired by the Impressionist artists and invokes a dramatic sense of harmony.
My mum is an incredible individual and I wanted to create a gift for her. The majestic landscape in New Zealand is where I saw her truly happy and free. The powerful looming mountains and clouds in my composition symbolise the pressures she is often overpowered by; the brighter, saturated colours portray hope and joy in the midsts of chaos.
