Artist statement: I was deeply inspired by Yrjo Edelmann and his hyper realistic works as this was a new art style in my learning journey. His use of detail, striking colour, highlights, value and careful lighting bring his paintings to life. For my artwork, I settled on royal blue wrapping paper as I adore the rich colour and the vibrant impression it creates. My hardest struggle was blending. As this was my first time using oil paint, I had to get used to its thick texture and the many effects this created. Another challenge was depicting the slightly transparent tape.
