Artist statement: We were given the task to create an artwork based on the theme ‘Into the forest’. We discovered many ways to communicate ideas through using art elements such as line, tone and colour. For my artwork, I recreated the scene where the two main characters from a Chinese novel first met. When the boy and the girl first met under the cherry blossom tree they fell in love. The moment he saw her, the feeling was indescribable and unique; it was an intense hit of joy. I chose to use red as a focal point to symbolise love and romance.
