Artist statement: This piece is based on the idea of identity, the notion that your outward appearance doesn’t depict how you picture yourself. We identify and relate to the fantastical and otherworldly characters in our favourite media, creating fantasies in our mind and inserting ourselves into alternate universes. The photograph explores how we can picture ourselves and how this imaginary persona is not fake – rather it’s a part of us: the person we want to project, the wisdom we want to have and the bravery we can only dream of. In post-production I combined four photographs and manipulated their colour and opacity using camera raw filter and Nik Collection to achieve my final result.
