Artist statement: This work pays homage to Albrecht Durer’s iconic piece ‘Self-Portrait at Twenty-Eight’. ‘Carl at seventeen’ is a self-portrait. I am interested in the game of creating a humorous dialogue between past and present. The bike helmet randomly placed on my head provides a funny insight into some hidden aspects of my personality.
