Artist statement: This image came about because I wanted to create something that was interesting as well as an artistic narrative. Having a minimalistic theme was important to me. The mood of the image is set by the textures present on the model and the facial expression. With the idea of discrimination both racial and cultural, over time and place in mind, I attempted to represent the emotional experience of rejection and persecution. The surface textures and setting were chosen as a symbol of how it feels to be seen through the eyes of discrimination.
