I made my magpie print by drawing a magpie as my first design. We were allowed to pick any bird from the Great Southern, so I picked the magpie because I liked its striking black-and-white tones. Magpies are always very protective of their territory, so  I used red to create the illusion of an assertive animal warning others not to come close.
