Collective Effervescence describes the transcendent, belonging feelings that occur when a group of people come together and engage in a shared action or ritual, such as concerts and live music. As a performer and avid music enjoyer myself, this work acts as a commentary on performer/audience relationships, the ways an audience can fuel a band, and the personal feelings music can provoke in an audience. I was inspired by artist, Wassily Kandinsky, and his rhymatic and musical style, which is seen in the top right corner of my work. The light, curving flow of paint that moves across the centre of the canvas is a representation of energy and music, visually showing it moving through the space.
