I’m constantly looking for those hidden ‘magical’ places in urban landscapes, whether it be secluded areas or the geometric qualities of buildings that just sing together in harmony. It’s places like this that inspire me. As I walked through Northbridge I stumbled upon a pool and was mesmerised by the way the water was reflected onto the windows behind it. The place had its own aura, and the small pigeon against a large building reminded me of Jeffrey Smart’s use of figures to show scale. I was also influenced by Jason Anderson’s use of geometric shapes and adopted this in my own artwork to create that ‘magical’ quality.
