My painting depicts the Changjiang Currency Exchange in Northbridge with a string of Chinese lanterns leading towards it, hung as a celebration for Chinese New Year. Chinese culture seems to have integrated into Australian architecture, creating a blend of both. As an immigrant in Australia, I’ve watched Asian culture fuse into Australia through its establishment of Asian shops, restaurants and grocery markets. Likewise, the presence of Chinese lanterns in modern Australia highlights the embrace of culture, specifically Chinese culture and its traditions.
