Artist statement: The purpose of my work is to celebrate the liveliness and energy present in everyday urban life. Nowadays, people criticise instead of appreciate the beauty of the city and surrounding environment. My painting features a staircase in a cafeteria. I used saturated primary and secondary colours to create a joyous, pleasant atmosphere. Stylistically, I am influenced by American artist William Wray. He uses visible, unblended brushstrokes and contrasting colours to reveal the original ‘sense’ of a scene.
