Artist statement: As well as being the most supportive and loving father imaginable, I have always appreciated the playful relationship I have with my father. This aspect of our relationship is particularly special to me as it has drawn us closer over the years. To his close friends, he is known for his sense of humour and playfulness; however, not everyone sees this. I chose my dad as the subject of my final piece to portray his personality in a way that is physical. Drawing Dad in a realistic style has enabled me to capture this quality in him that I love, to reproduce his subtle smirk and cheeky expression as I see it. Pairing this with the medium of coloured pencil has allowed me to capture more of his personality in his face.
