Artist statement: This artwork shows a river mouse hastily tangled within Australian flora. It is a lino carving, printed on handmade eggshell paper. I worked with various tools to carve intricate shapes and balance negative and positive space. This print represents Australia’s growing bushfire problem in a stylised design. My goals were to experiment with texture and hatching using different tools, to create graphic contrast, and to prompt the viewer to think about the aftermath of our bushfires.
