Artist statement: There is a brief period of time between wakefulness and sleep, when the barrier between reality and our dreams and nightmares can become blurred, and our subconscious minds can twist and morph the real into the unreal. Ordinary objects can often morph into frightening visions. My artwork represents this blurred barrier between the two different worlds of reality and nightmares, showing a nightmarish figure emerging from an ordinary blank canvas. It is trying to escape, desperately trying to pull itself out of the framed canvas and into our world.
