Artist statement: This acrylic self-portrait depicts a fairytale about me and my inner secret garden. The whisper gesture idealises the secrecy of the garden and the secrets I hold. The flowers, leaves and moths portray the garden – my inner self that I want to be: colourful and peaceful. This piece helped with my self reflection by representing an interior beauty which I was insecure about. Although the insecurity hasn’t disappeared, this process has helped me move on.
