Artist statement: My self-portrait is an exploration of the impact that moving to Australia from my home in the Philippines had on the development of my personal identity. Initially the culture shock and language barriers made me introverted and shy. I questioned who I was and what my place was in my new home. As time has passed I have embraced the difference cultures and experiences I have been exposed to and consider all of these a part of my identity and my home.
