Artist statement: My inspiration for this painting was Frida Kahlo who inspired me to create the “ Seeker of Knowledge” a mixed-media painting about my mother and her life. She grew up living a simple life as seen with the black and white portrait. The focal point is the multi layers of books in the centre of the painting that emphases the importance of using the mind to seek knowledge about things that are of interest to her (religion, English, humanities and social sciences).
