Artist statement: Lines of Life is my personal interpretation of the theme The Body. I was interested in close-ups of body parts and the different textures of the skin. In creating my work, I was influenced by photo artists Miguel Ribeiro and Karlijn Postma. In the editing stage I wanted as much texture and contrast as possible. I used the Nik Collection Silver Efex Pro 2 to apply the black and white contrast. I then went back into the photographs with the dodge and burn tools to emphasise the lines and highlights on the face. When printing the images, I used Gold Mono Silk fine art paper, which not only brought out the highlights and textures, but gave the images the effect of being photographed through a film camera.
