Artist statement: This piece of art uses coloured pencils as its main medium, the composition of the heart and the flower depicts the life of us. The heart representing life, but also representing death because of the open cut at the bottom, this showing how life will always bring death eventually. The flowers beside it are Hydrangeas which in flower language can mean”honest emotions, gratitude, deep bonds and heartlessness” the dying and blood stained Hydrangeas together with the heart represents the starting and ending of our lives with different emotions and bonds we have with the people in our life, weather it being positive or negative. As a whole, this artwork creates beauty through the embracement of the good and the evil in our life.
