Artist statement: My dust jacket design for a novel titled Time of Crime was inspired by books of the early 1900s. I used browns and yellows which were a common design palette of that time – many old crime book covers have monochromatic colour schemes. I took photographs of my grandad and used him to represent the main character in the book, putting him on the front cover. I chose a painterly style to match the period as closely as possible.
