Artist statement: My painting, ‘Rottnest’, illustrates a scene across one of the bays at Rottnest Island. The style was inspired by Western Australian artist, Leon Pericles. What I like most about his landscape work is his use of colour and pattern. I particularly focused on pattern-making in my painting. This is my first landscape and I really enjoyed the process of using acrylic paint, exploring layering and bright colours.
