Artist statement: My work is inspired by both the power of persuasion and my own personal experiences, highlighting the fear and helplessness associated with being human. Everyone is forced into doing certain things or feeling certain ways to fit in. These rules reflect our society’s ideologies and practices and therefore must be conformed to. The restrained subject’s hopeless expression emphasises emotional charge and vulnerability.
