Artist statement: My watercolor piece represents the theme The World Around Us by showing our growing connectivity to technology and our ongoing need to be connected. The mass of technology is supposed to resemble a cloud and directly symbolizes the ‘cloud’ of storage that most technology companies give you to upload and store your information. The cords growing down from the cloud into the person below shows our ever-growing connectiveness and dependency on the world around us. This is also represented by the contrasting organic and geometric shapes in the cloud and the main figure.
