Fangore the Pig

Medium: Wire, modelling clay, fabric collage

Artist statement: My final artwork has been influenced by the artist Susan Bowers and the mediums she uses: plaster, fabric and wire. Originally, the plan was to make my artwork look as close to a realistic pig as possible, but there was a modelling clay shortage and I had to get a bit more creative. My final artwork ended up being a patchwork of blue, white and grey fabrics with realistic embellishments for the feet, ears, tail and snout, all made from clay and painted with a watery brown acrylic paint – because pigs are never clean. Why I chose to take inspiration from a pig is simple – they are my favourite animal of all time!
