Artist statement: This is a house near where I live in Darlington. I painted this image to demonstrate the connection I have with the local environment. I have lived here for nearly six years and already have many memories of lush trees and beautiful gardens. I tried to portray the scene in a realistic fashion, drawing upon the styles I saw from researching different artists. I wanted the painting to reflect vibrant life and warmth so I chose warm greens, browns and yellows. I decided to include as many natural aspects as possible, as trees and foliage are prevalent in Darlington. I also took influences from various artists, incorporating dabbed-on brushstrokes. I hope viewers of this work can feel the sunshine, warmth and greenery of my home and surroundings.
