Artist statement: Shoah is a ceramic synagogue made to represent happiness and security in religion. For a religion and race once and still persecuted, a synagogue is a place of safety and comfort, which is what I tried to convey in my piece. The lone bird is an omen of misfortune, which many Jews faced in the time of Shoah. Shoah is a sad but meaningful piece and is made in memory of those lost in the Holocaust.
