Artist statement: My work represents a view of my ancestor, Patrick Fitzpatrick, having arrived in Australia from Ireland. I hope that the work successfully communicates the confusion and disconnect related with arriving in a new place, especially for the Irish refugees who came to Australia from such a vastly different home.
