Copperplate etching

42 cm × 29 cm

My copperplate etching depicts a landscape of costal shrubbery which tapers off into an expanse of sea. I was inspired by the ethereal landscapes of the Albany coast. When visiting Torndirrup National Park, I had been struck by the overwhelming character and odd charm of the scenery. The charred, twisted branches of small trees, peaking their heads over the wispy golden grasses and flood of pale green foliage. A place revenged by fire, rejuvenated once more. Brutality and peace. Harmoniously existing together. I had been inspired, imbued with the passion to try and capture this scene’s essence in an artwork.
