Soft Pastels on Black Paper

Through my artwork, I wanted to capture the beauty of life beneath the ocean. Using soft pastels, I depicted a sea turtle swimming through the water, with sunlight shining through the surface and colourful coral covering the sea floor. By layering soft pastels and using a range of tones and shades, I created a sense of realistic depth. The fine details help show the texture of the turtle’s shell and the coral. I wanted to highlight the magnificent beauty of the ocean, which people do not always get to see, and encourage viewers to appreciate and care for our oceans.
