soft sculpture on sticks

120 × 170cm

Year 8 Gifted and Talented students created soft sculptures inspired by the Kulia artworks of Yarrenyty Arrernte artists, based in the Larapinta Valley Town Camp in Mparntwe (Alice Springs), which express powerful stories, lived experiences, and deep connections to Country and culture.Using cyanotype prints, hand stitching, and soft forms, students communicated ideas through imagery capturing their shared experiences in the Perth Cultural Centre and Piney Lakes Eco Hub. The works aim to reflect a sense of place, blending nature and urban environments through individual perspectives. This collaboration values experimentation, connection, and creativity, embracing personal experience and collective making as part of the process.
