This sculptural headpiece was created in response to the lyric “Things fall apart, time breaks your heart.” The piece explores how time can change things, cause loss, and leave emotional scars.
Created from mixed media materials including aluminium foil, clay, acrylic paint, and found objects, the work combines natural and sculptural elements to communicate the effects of time. The dried wildflowers represent the passing of time and how things eventually fade and deteriorate, while the anatomically correct clay heart acts as the focal point, emphasising the emotional impact of loss and heartbreak.
Through the use of symbolic materials and contrasting textures, the piece reflects how time can slowly break things apart, both physically
