Inspired by a niche café in Xishuangbanna, this painting captures the grassy warmth of matcha and the quiet joy of sharing dessert with my mum. We stumbled across the café full of whimsical delicacies and decided to enjoy a sweet treat in the resplendent rainforest of China. Through meticulous blending and layering, I aimed to capture the softness of the cake’s texture and its rich green palette. I wanted to explore how food and memory can connect through colour and atmosphere, transforming this simple dessert into a quiet, nostalgic moment. Overall, I am pleased with how this work beautifully captures a personal memory through the vivid colour of acrylics.
