In today’s interconnected world, we often act at a distance, detached from consequences beyond our view. My artwork explores this dynamic within the meat industry, where animals are reduced to consumable objects, alienating us from their lives and suffering. Inspired by my experience as a vegetarian, lifelong appreciation of animals, and ongoing questions around ethical consumption, I aim to encourage reflection and empathy.

Referencing the sheep in August Friedrich Schenck’s Anguish and The Orphan, I draw on themes of loss and vulnerability. Printed on a repurposed woollen blanket, the lino print’s softened lines and tactile texture evoke a sheep’s coat, contrasting the cold detachment of commercial imagery. By portraying only two faces,
