Karen Shapiro’s hyper-realistic still-life sculptures informed my artwork, particularly her use of everyday objects, altered text, and nostalgic themes. My work explores personal growth and the connection between my past and present through meaningful objects. The watercolours represent childhood creativity, the acrylic paint symbolises a growing commitment, the notebook and pen reflect artistic and personal development, and the medication bottle represents self-acceptance. I developed my ideas through photography, thumbnail sketches, and construction plans before sculpting and glazing the final pieces. Influenced by realism and absurdism, the objects appear unrelated at first but reveal a deeper personal narrative through their symbolism.
