My work, Intimate Debris (Can Study), looks at rubbish up close to help viewers examine waste and how they dispose of it. The work was inspired by artist Mandy Barker, who collects and photographs plastic from the ocean to promote awareness of marine plastic pollution. Hopefully, my work can bring awareness to how we dispose of waste around our school. To create this artwork, rubbish was collected from around the school and photographed using studio lighting. Then, I used the grid method to sketch my composition onto my paper. I began in light layers, building up pigment using Prismacolour pencils. Finally, I used the burnishing technique to blend colours and create a smooth texture.
