Batik wax painting on fabric

My painting represents the different members of my family. For us Aboriginal people, family is the foundation of identity, cultural continuity, and wellbeing. I used the technique of batik which uses a wax-resist dyeing technique. I created the intricate, colourful patterns with dye colours and applied wax. I have enjoyed and learnt how to apply melting wax to cloth, acting as a barrier to dye so that only the unwaxed areas absorb the colour.
