In my work self-portrait I wanted to capture my likeness on the cusp of adulthood with traditional media in the manner of the old masters. To achieve this, I sketched out proportions with charcoal pencil and added tone gradually to achieve form. I feel this has captured my image with a quality of stillness and calm thought.
