I have chosen this image for my artwork because I liked how the buildings and view looked. I like the composition and how the angle goes into a vanishing point. The detail in the trees, leaves and balcony’s railings appealed to me. I felt like this image represented Fremantle and its rich history. The techniques I used to carve the image were a mixture of thin and thick carving tools. I used thinner tools for fine lines, like the sky and thicker tools for adding textures, like the road. I used different carving techniques an example being the tree when I used upward flicking strokes with a thick tool.
