Much of my time with my sister is spent doing nothing, hours on hours spent in quiet boredom spanning most of our relationship. Alexia is my older sister, and the person I’ve spent years of my life just being near. I drew her, because she was there. I attempted realism to capture her familiarity, how she exists, without weight on her presence. I want the viewer to understand my expression of what a lot of relationships are made of: quality time without express “quality”; to feel the pause in the work and the weight of nothing happening.
