In learning to paint a tonal portrait, I was drawn to the expressive possibilities of paint. While we were taught to softly blend forms, I prefer to work with bold, dabbed marks that reflect my instinctive and textured approach. My portrait captures both structure and personality through a intuitive tonal and stippled painting process.
