‘Jaimeception’ explores themes of mortality, conformity, rebellion, and freedom over the four self portraits depicted in the oil painting, which each feature a different era’s makeup and fashion trends of the time. My artwork’s intent is not just to talk about complications with beauty standards and how they’ve changed over time, but to comment on how even though it has been millenniums since the first form of makeup, it is still an equally prevalent part of womanhood and coming of age.
