Street art and skateboarding are two acts that are synonymous with city life. I wanted to draw attention to the declining tree canopy in our city. I have seen an increase in the number of red-tailed black cockatoos that I now see in the city. I wanted my artwork to act as a reminder of the destruction that is happening to old growth forests outside of the city. These trees take hundreds of years to reach a stage where they’re suitable for nesting of red-tailed black cockatoos. The destruction of these trees means that the birds no longer have a place to nest, which has caused some to migrate to our dwindling city canopy. I wanted to show the beauty of these birds and for my artwork to serve a reminder of their growing endangerment.
