Accent Lemon features beach-associated objects—a watering can, dyed water in a glass, flowers, paddles, lemon juice, sunglasses, and a towel—chosen mainly for their colours. I focused on blue and yellow to explore warm and cool contrasts, aiming for a vibrant, balanced composition. As a beginner with oil paint, I chose a realistic style to guide me through careful observation and detail. I enjoyed capturing textures like the fluffy towel, smooth glass, and bumpy lemon bottle. Red shadows added depth and helped balance the colour scheme. My favourite part is the way the sunglasses reflect nearby colours, tying the composition together. This work was a valuable learning experience.
