Mundanity is something that cannot be escaped. We build habits and build lives around concrete things, and soon they become so familiar they are forgettable. When a new situation arises to break the mould, it may be welcomed or accepted, but the dichotomy feels clear. The mundane and the extraordinary collide in numerous ways in our lives. When does a hobby change from an escape from the everyday world to simply another part of your routine? When does reading a book turn from an act of escapism to just another way to pass the time? When does a global pandemic turn into a headline we see every morning?
