In the artwork ‘Sphynx’, I investigated the idea of capturing the bond between the observer and the subject. I did this through the transcendent Sphynx peering deep into the viewer’s eyes. I created a sense of depth using a variety of shades in graphite pencil. I wanted to depict the unique attributes of the Sphynx cat and construct a mysterious relationship with the observer. The drawing was inspired by my personal observations and the work of a range of artists working in representational tonal styles.
