My piece depicts the back of a charity shop with various abandoned items distributed throughout the composition. As a keen frequenter of these second-hand places, I believe that every item donated holds some remnant of their previous owner. I attempted to capture a human presence, despite the lack of any people in the composition, in the form of the objects they leave behind. The teddy bear has strong connotations with childhood sentimentality, yet this is juxtaposed with its abandonment in a parking lot. A teddy bear sitting in a doorframe, as if it were alive, is both endearing and unnerving.
