Freedom Calling

My artwork addresses oppression and freedom. My main influence is Abdul-Rahman Abdullah. He inspired me to convey a deeper and more meaningful connection. My composition is centred on a green budgie mid-flight, menaced by grasping hands. A hand grips the budgie’s tail, symbolically representing the oppressors in society denying freedom to humans and other living things. The muddy background isolates the main subject, emphasising the rays of light and dramatising the importance of freedom through the budgie’s desperate flight.
