Crochet yarn and glue

This art piece is inspired by The Lantern Festival, which is celebrated in various Asian countries. In this artwork I tried to replicate the simple, yet beautiful, lantern design of the Pingxi Sky Lanterns Festival celebrated in Taiwan in the villages of Pingxi, Jingtong and Shifen. On this day, thousands gather to release paper lantern into the sky with their hopes and wishes for the new year written all over them. While I have never witnessed the lantern festival in person, I wish to visit one day and see the magic of floating lights in the inky black sky for myself.
